A Supporting Paragraph

A Mock Supporting Paragraph

At 17, Marcia stood outside of her parents’ two-story home in Cowgill, Missouri. How could she tell her parents? What am I to do now? I’m only 17, how can I raise a child? Marcia came from a traditional, conservative home of two loving, but stern parents and three siblings. One of her siblings, Marty, had already dropped out because he had knocked up his girlfriend, Kim. This wasn’t part of the plan. Marcia was supposed to graduate from high school and then attend college in hope to obtain a B.S.E. in elementary education. Now, that wasn’t going to happen; she walked into her parents’ two-story home. Days leading up to this event, she thought about how she might break the news to them. Perhaps, she would sit them down and tell them the earth-shattering news or she would leave a note by the kitchen table explaining what had happened. Instead while her mother prepared the chicken and her father, his eyes glued to the evening news, she admitted, “I’m pregnant.” Her mother froze and her father glared at her, the only words that he could manage to choke out, “You slut.”
